One thing I love about new years: fresh starts.
Last year could have been a complete suck fest, but come January 1st? All can be washed away in a ceremonious dropping of the NY ball. It’s like a giant reset button that gives you a brand new narrative.
Of course, with this new narrative comes the one thing people love to do for new years:detox. And what better way than with a refreshing drink? Because if we can drink away our sorrows on new years eve, we cancertainlydrink back our health on new years day, starting with fresh fruits and vegetables.
A new years resolution made easy
While I’m not a stickler for new years resolutions, one thing I love to do on January 1st is start the day off with a detoxifying drink. It’s easy to do, and you can incorporate it any time of the year, new years day or not.
Because starting your morning with a tall glass of goodness is the best way tofuelyour body of essential vitamins and nutrients, all without expelling too much effort. And while I love dusting off the ol’ juicer, if smoothies are more your speed, there’s nothing wrong with throwing it all in your blender and letting that puppy whirl.

Detox drinks like lemonade, ginger tea, and fenugreek water boost metabolism, aid weight loss, enhance digestion, and prevent obesity. Green tea with catechins reduces body fat. Turmeric tea and apple cider vinegar further enhance metabolism and aid in weight loss.
A mixture of apple cider vinegar with a variety of spices and juices (e.g., cinnamon, honey, ginger, cayenne pepper, lemon juice), this cleanse has been sweeping the internet as a beneficial cure-all to help you lose weight, lower your cholesterol and blood pressure, control your blood sugar, boost your immune system, ...
In theory, the detoxification process involves cleaning out your body of chemicals, pollutants, and other “toxins” that can negatively impact your health. However, the truth is that healthy bodies are able to do this on their own through the kidneys, liver, digestive system, and skin.
To lose 10 pounds in one week, you'll need to burn between 3,500 and 5,000 calories more than you consume each day by restricting your diet to small portions of nutritious yet low-calorie foods, and significantly increasing your aerobic exercise with interval training, sports, and other vigorous activities.
Drinking green tea regularly may help boost metabolism and support weight loss efforts, including reducing belly fat. Drinking water with lemon can help promote hydration and may aid in digestion. Lemon water is also low in calories and can serve as a refreshing alternative to sugary beverages.
While the apple cider vinegar cleanse lasts about seven days and may have you feeling better immediately, a means of maintaining this healthy state is through continued exercise.
Apple cider vinegar is loaded with antibiotic and antioxidant properties that help with both cleansing and maintaining a healthy colon and gut. ACV also supports the digestive system and colon in eliminating toxins, and making it easier to maintain a healthy weight.
Another way ACV helps to detox the body is by breaking up mucus and cleansing the lymph nodes, which allows for better lymph circulation. When your lymphatic system is healthy, it can remove toxins from cells and improve the immune system response.
To naturally boost your body's own detoxification abilities, limit your alcohol consumption, eat less ultra-processed food, drink plenty of water throughout the day, stay physically active, get seven to nine hours of sleep and reduce stress.
Many people wonder how long it takes to pee after drinking water, but it depends on a variety of factors. Generally, it takes your body 9 to 10 hours to produce 2 cups of urine. A properly hydrated person with an almost full bladder will need to urinate between five to fifteen minutes after drinking water.
