Okay, so they say Markarth will be available with ESO+, but I know Greymoor isn’t. I have ESO+, but not Greymoor (was waiting for it to be released with other dlcs included). But can I play Markarth without playing Greymoor? I’m worried if the storylines are directly related then it won’t make sense.

Greymoor is a chapter, Markath is a DLC. Only DLCs can be played with ESO+, chapters need to be bought.

The story in Markath will work like the one in Dragonhold. You can play the zone-specific story even if you haven't played the Greymoor story yet but there's also an additional part that only gets unlocked after you have completed both the Greymoor and the Markath story lines.
This part will be the finale of the year long story.

Graymore is a chapter, markapth is a dlc. Chapter's are not inculded in eso+, dlc's are. Somehow zos has to squeeze out more money from the eso+ ppl.

Greymoor will become available with ESO+ when the next chapter does drop like Elsweyr when did when Greymoor was released.

It'll probably be kinda like Elsweyr, where Southern Elsweyr was sort of a stand alone story with an end quest that connected it all. For sure some things will be confusing without playing Greymoor first but it shouldn't be tooo bad - hopefully the preview quest will fill in the basics

Okay. I think I was confused about chapters vs dlcs. So it’s probably fine to start it without having done Greymoor? I’m going to do it eventually, just waiting for a better deal.

If I understand it correctly it will be like last year where you can play through most of the DLC's story but the finale only unlocks once you have completed both Greymoor and Markarth's main story.
From what I know about these releases and what was revealed Markarth will probably make sense on its own but having played Greymoor before will give a little bit more context and fill you in on how we got there. Kind of like how you can play Clockwork City before Morrowind but it makes more sense playing Morrowind first.
So Markarth is probably going to end up being somewhat of a spoiler for Greymoor.

If you play on PC you can play Greymoor (and all other DLCs and chapters) for free on the PTS.

@Ratzkifal I haven’t played through Morrowind or clockwork city yet (I’m kinda new), but I think I get what you’re saying.

@Edaphon I’m on Xbox unfortunately Confused about Markarth (11)

To be honest, it's largely a matter of opinion and preference.

Some people like to play the content in order, which means completing the Main Quest before interacting with Lyris and Abnur and Sai who technically aren't even supposed to be where you meet them in the later storylines if you haven't even started and completed the Main Quest yet.

But you can still play through a lot of the DLC and chapter storylines completely out of order if you don't mind.

@SeaGtGruff Yeah that makes sense. The order of the storylines is a complete disaster throughout this entire game.
